Thank the Hands That Helped
Scripture : Romans 13:7, KJV“Honour to whom honour.”

Reflection: After a hurricane, we look at what the wind has taken. Today, let us notice the responders who answered the call. The dispatcher who listened to a frightened voice. The paramedic who cared for someone in pain. The electrical workers restoring power. Behind every uniform is a person with a family, worries, and a need for encouragement.
Gratitude does not erase the damage. But it can strengthen someone who is helping others face it. Loving our neighbor includes remembering that these emergency responders are our neighbors, too.
Real-Life Connection
Florida’s response includes emergency medical support, law enforcement assistance, and teams clearing routes for responders and supplies. Each assignment depends on people willing to serve. Neighbors can offer a simple, heartfelt message: “Thank you for showing up when our community needed you.”
Neighbor-Love Action
Individual: Write a personal thank-you note to an emergency responder.
Community: Invite your church or neighborhood to collect cards, including children’s drawings, for a local response agency.
Civic: Send appreciation through the agency’s public contact channel so dispatchers and support staff are remembered alongside field crews.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for those serving Florida’s and Alabama's hurting communities. Protect them, renew their strength, and comfort their families. Help us notice their sacrifices and express our gratitude with love. Amen.
Reflection Question: Have I thanked someone whose service helped another person through this storm?
Love God.
Love Your Neighbor.
